About us, Who We Are
Mbali The Village is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing hope to the community, because it takes a village to raise a child—and a foundation of love, safety, and belonging to help them build a future filled with possibility.
The Inspiration
MBALI THE VILLAGE was founded in memory of the late Mbali Nzama, whose passion for community upliftment—especially in the lives of young people in Izingolweni (Ray Nkonyeni)—was deeply inspired by her father. He was known as Muhle uJesu, an Evangelist who dedicated his life to serving his community with tireless and selfless commitment.
Guided by this legacy, Mbali developed a strong desire to give back to her community. Sadly, she was unable to realize this dream during her lifetime due to her untimely passing.
The name MBALI THE VILLAGE embodies the belief that “It takes a village to raise a child”—to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children feel secure, are able to flourish, and can pursue their hopes and dreams.
Mbali The Village
At MBALI THE VILLAGE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing hope to the community. One of our key initiatives is providing breakfast to indigent schoolchildren before classes begin—helping to fight hunger and reduce nutrient deficiencies. Beyond breakfast, Mbali The Village supports scholars through academic assistance, career guidance, and connections to companies that offer bursaries, skills development, training, and work-readiness programs. The organization also facilitates sports and cultural activities, believing that youth development programs like these strengthen community involvement and play a vital role in addressing crime, substance abuse, and teenage pregnancy.
