Our Youth, Our Future

We empower youth to develop resilience, confidence, and prosperity—key drivers in eradicating poverty, advancing food security, and promoting sustainable economic growth within our community.

Who We Are

MBALI THE VILLAGE is a registered non-profit company based in KwaNodalane, Izingolweni, within the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.. NPO Reg No: 302-379
Izingolweni is a rural area deeply impacted by the political violence of the 1990s, which left many children without parents and created a lasting cycle of hardship. Today, many homes are child-headed, and a large portion of the youth face unemployment. Having grown up in this community, we understand its challenges first-hand and are committed to creating opportunities that restore hope and dignity.

Our Vision

At MBALI THE VILLAGE, our vision is to empower youth to unlock their potential, build resilience, and gain the confidence needed to break cycles of poverty, strengthen food security, create employment, and drive sustainable economic growth. To achieve this, we provide intervention programmes that foster active youth participation in their community—ranging from academic support and nutrition to agricultural initiatives, sports, and cultural activities. Together, we are building a foundation for long-term growth and transformation.

Nutrition

Our initiative provides children with nutritious morning meals, giving them the energy and focus needed to excel in school. At MBALI THE VILLAGE, we believe proper nutrition is the springboard to learning, breaking the cycle of poverty and malnutrition in our community.

Academic Support

Our initiative engages unemployed graduates to provide academic support and mentorship for children in need. This not only helps learners thrive but also gives graduates valuable practical experience to strengthen their chances of securing employment and building their own future.

Agricultural Iniative

Our goal is to alleviate hunger in the community by striving for food security and promoting sustainable agriculture. Achieving this requires more than providing meals—it means creating employment, reducing poverty, and equipping youth with pathways into profitable farming and entrepreneurial opportunities that ensure long-term growth.

Athletic Programme

MBALI THE VILLAGE believes that youth development should begin as early as the first years of life. We work with communities across Izingolweni to introduce children to sports from a young age, providing access to trainers, guidance counselors, and talent scouts. Sports not only nurture talent but also play a proven role in curbing crime by positively engaging youth and shaping their future.

Netball & Football Training

At MBALI THE VILLAGE, we host netball and football training sessions after school, following the academic support provided by our facilitators. This approach ensures that children not only strengthen their minds through learning but also develop physical fitness, teamwork, and discipline—laying the foundation for well-rounded personal growth.

Shelter

MBALI THE VILLAGE partners with Child Welfare and the South African Police Service (SAPS) to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. Each resident is connected with caregivers or social workers who support their care plan, including counseling and self-care guidance. Beyond providing a safe environment for women and children, we empower women through skills development programs—such as gardening and vocational training—helping them gain independence and transform their futures.
